Theresa Erwin
Biography Contact

Theresa Erwin has been working with glass almost thirty years. She started with stained glass and has done glass blowing and is now primarily making fused glass with occasional ventures into the other forms.

Her formal training includes a few Art Ed classes in college; otherwise she has learned by experiment, asking friends and reading as she needed a skill.

She says, “The most important things in my life are my children (Melissa, George, Sam, and Dan), grandchildren (Jasmine, Katherine, and William) and the love of my life, Hugh Erwin.”

She once was a co-owner of a Needlepoint shop in Olla Podrida in Dallas, Texas, designing and painting needlepoint canvas, teaching classes, selling yarn and giving advice.

She loves working with her hands: the color and textures; the feel of soft wool with lots of lanolin; the coolness of glass whether it be bumpy or smooth. Her favorite pieces are those that change depending on the type of light you view them in.

Theresa also says, “The Hawaiians call half breeds like me, hapa haoili (two people jumping around in one skin). I've always perceived that to mean that I am capable of doing lots of different things and having plenty of energy and loads of fun
